Magic Jack Review
Setting it up:
I hooked everything up following the directions and it did take about a minute to install and then it popped up and looked like this:

That's an advertising window on the left that changes as they see fit. The computer informed me that the installation was successful but might not function properly until I had rebooted. I went ahead anyway and made my first call to my AT&T Callvantage VOIP and the call went through fine and my wife answered the phone. As we talked back and forth I found the sound on the phone that was hooked up to the Magic Jack to be good but a little odd, sort of like talkng in a box. All the background sounds were not there but a good clear speaking voice could be heard. I swapped phones with my wife and the receiving phone had excellent sound from the Magic Jack phone. I was pleased with it.
Then I had my wife call the number it had assigned me but it didn't work. It said "The number you have dialed has been disconnected or is no longer in service.
When she called me on her cell phone it worked just fine. Maybe AT&T is playing hard ball and doing this as a competitive block, Magic Jack calls the AT&T phone just fine so I guess they're playing fairly.
