Thump's Computer Corner

Magic Jack Review

Grand Central:

I clicked the invitation link and the page that opened said:
It's easy to get started.
1. Choose a phone number
2. Decide which of your phones you want your GrandCentral number to ring
3. Tell everyone to call you on your new GrandCentral number
I clicked the Sign Up button.

Page two: Choose a number
I'll be here awhile. No Fruitland Park, but they've got Leesburg and that's local. I'm going to take it and it now I click the Show Number button.

Page Three:
It shows me 5 numbers but has a button to show five more.   I'm taking one of the first five though.   It's got a "gotcha" or "capta", wish me luck.

Page Four:
It's given me the number and now wants me to fill out the form.   I gave my real name and Thump was taken so I used thumpnet.   I chose a password and a four number PIN.   I gave it the Magic Jack number, I could have had it ring my home phone as well but wanted to separate them so I'd know which one was being called.
I clicked the "Create My Account" button.
Well the password didn't match twice and then I must have gotten it right and it flagged me again and said the password must contain at least one number.
Now I have to call and enter a two digit number. It's got my number checked and has a call button.   I clicked it and it rang my phone, I answered and it identified itself as Grand Central and asked for the two digit number and I put them in and it said Thank you, you can now use your new number.   Done.
I got an e-mail welcoming me and giving me these features:
Unlimited inbound minutes
Unlimited voicemail
$3 credit for click-to-call
All premium features, including call record

The AT&T phone can call the Grand Central number.   It answers and says "Welcome. Please say your name and Grand Central will try to reach the party for you."   Oh well.
